Unafraid and responsive to the captain’s call, they emerge from the underbrush and between moss-draped trees and shrubs, often approaching the boat directly. In the safety and comfort of the boat, visitors can get within a few feet of the jumping alligators.

Hunting and fishing are prohibited on the property, allowing visitors to witness the Manchac swamp in its natural state. The animals are accustomed to the boats, viewing them as part of their environment, which means they remain visible for guests to observe. Knowledgeable boat captains will provide insights into the wildlife inhabiting the swamp and share stories about the people who once lived in this unique ecosystem.
- Coolers or ice chests are not allowed. Small amounts of food and beverage can be enjoyed on the picnic tables throughout the property. Snacks available for purchase in the ticket office/gift shop.

Hello Gators! - It was our first time in New Orleans and going on a swamp tour to see gators was very high on the to-do list :) We took a Lyft from our hotel in the French Quarter and it was not cheap (about $70). I would recommend either renting a car for the day or taking advantage of their tour with transportation option. We did the 4:15 tour (which is the last tour of the day) and the front desk gals told us that Lyft/Uber does not operate in LaPlace (where the tour is) and getting a ride after the 90 min tour may be difficult. Fortunately, they had a list of transportation companies that you could call and pre-arrange a pickup. We were able to schedule a driver pickup WHEW. But that was also $70 back. So for $140, definitely rent a car or choose the shuttle service they provide.
As for the swamp tour itself, it was really fun. All ages/family friendly, and safe! We enjoyed seeing all of the natural wonders - the spanish moss, cypress trees, tropical plants, critters (we saw racoons and were on the lookout for wild hogs), birds, along with the gators! Our tour guide was Dustin and he was great. He shared alot of facts about gators and the swamp and made it fun, enjoyable, and informative. They stated that springtime is the best time to visit the swamp, since it's not as hot or humid yet, and the temperature is more ideal for the gators to lay out on the banks, catching sun. Usually when it's much hotter, most of the alligators will hang in the water. We even got to hold a baby gator. Very cool! Highly recommended Cajun Pride.

March 2023, wonderful experience. - Our family (with kids) took a tour with Captain Tom after a recommendation from fellow travelers. We had the best time. Tom was the best, showed examples of poisonous snakes (in jars, thankfully), crayfish and up close (but far enough) experience with alligators. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Very good tour, worth twice the price! - Captain Bishop was an awesome tour guide! We saw so many alligators as well as turtles, raccoons and other wildlife. He made sure people on both sides of the boat could have the same experience (when the wildlife would cooperate).

Best part of New Orleans trip!!! - The whole tour was fun, entertaining, and awesome!!! Even for my twin 4 year old nieces!!! Holding the baby alligator was priceless!!! Would definitely recommend and definitely go back in the future!!!

Gators, Marshmallows, and More! - Captain Tom (T Tom) is THE BEST! We absolutely loved our tour, we saw a lot of alligators and even a couple raccoons. Everyone in our tour had a blast and it was our favorite part of our time in New Orleans. So much culture and knowledge explained in our and if you’ve never seen a gator eat a marshmallow, definitely tell them T Tom needs to take you out on the bayou.

Great tour with knowledgeable guide! - We had a great time with Bishop today on our tour; he was very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and bayou. He was very good at keeping us entertained; we also appreciated the care Bishop showed for the alligators' environment and their health.

Great Swamp tour - We took a tour last week with Captain Tom. Due to COVID we were the only ones on the tour, and appreciated that they were willing to go regardless. Tom was really great- very knowlegeable and enjoyed his unique expressions. I would recommend Cajun Tours and Tom to anyone.

A must for nature nerds and ghost hunters! - Awesome tour! Went in mid-December, when most alligators are in a dormant state. We were told we'd be lucky to see 1 - pretty sure we saw 10+?!?
I have a background in environmental science and spent a year working in wetlands - so I was picky in terms of what tour provider I would trust for an authentic experience. I was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable our tour guide, Bishop, was! He also knew where to place the boat to get the best shots!
I think this company does a disservice to themselves by not advertising how National Geographic and others have roamed these waters given its haunted history (I won't spoil the surprise but it involves a voodoo priest and a haunted swamp graveyard)!
Highly recommend!
