• Thousand Islands - The Thousand Islands (French: Mille-Îles) are actually made up of 1,864 islands situated in the Saint Lawrence River, extending over 50 miles between Canada and the U.S. border, from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario to Kingston, Ontario.

The Canadian islands are located in Ontario, while the U.S. islands are in New York.

To qualify as one of the Thousand Islands, a piece of land must remain above water throughout the year and support a living tree. The islands vary in size, from over 40 square miles to smaller islands with a single residence or uninhabited rocky outcrops. Many islands are publicly owned, offering parks, campgrounds, and rental cottages for visitors.

• Thousand Islands Bridge - The Thousand Islands International Bridge (French: Pont des Mille-îles) is an American-maintained bridge system over the Saint Lawrence River, linking northern New York in the U.S. with southeastern Ontario in Canada. Built in 1937, with expansions in 1959, the bridges cross the Canada–U.S. border in the heart of the Thousand Islands region. Each bridge in the system accommodates two lanes of traffic, one in each direction, and includes pedestrian sidewalks.
• Thousand Islands - A 5-meter (14’) 8 metric tonnes (18,000 lb.) white limestone statue of St. Lawrence is situated 1 kilometer east of the Thousand Islands Bridge (Ivy Lea International Bridge) on the Canadian Palisades, a long cliff along the Canadian shoreline. It is visible only to boaters on the river.

The statue’s sculptor, Jim Smith, from Campbell Monuments in Belleville, aimed to express the saint’s character and story through symbolism in the statue. St. Lawrence holds a gridiron, the tool used for his execution, in one hand, and a book in the other, as he was a church librarian. Lawrence stands on bags of coins, symbolizing his role as the custodian of the Roman church’s money, which he distributed to the poor.

• Zavikon Island - Despite its singular name, Zavikon Island is actually a pair of islands located in the Thousand Islands Archipelago, which spans the border between Ontario and New York. The islands are linked by a 32-foot-long bridge, often called the “shortest international bridge in the world.” With no border guards present, the crossing is marked by a Canadian flag at one end and an American flag at the other.
• Heart Island - This five-acre island in the Thousand Islands area is home to Boldt Castle.
• Boldt Castle and Yacht House - Situated on Heart Island in the U.S. Thousand Islands, this six-story castle is a symbol of love and loss, left unfinished and abandoned in 1904 by its owner, George Boldt, after his wife’s passing. Now owned by the Thousand Island Transit Authority, the castle has been restored and enhanced, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Thousand Islands Region and all of Upstate NY. • Singer Castle - Located on Dark Island in the U.S., Singer Castle was built in 1905 by Frederick Bourne of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. It is the only remaining castle on the St. Lawrence River that was completed, fully furnished, and inhabited during the peak era of great builders and industrialists in New York.
