Into the Heart of Gunung Leuser

The anticipation was palpable as I embarked on my journey to the Gunung Leuser National Park, a place that had long been on my bucket list. As someone who has spent years in the Amazon, the allure of exploring another rainforest, this time in Indonesia, was irresistible. The promise of encountering wild orangutans and other exotic wildlife was enough to draw me halfway across the world.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the lush greenery of Bukit Lawang, a small village nestled on the edge of the park. The accommodations were a dream, eco-friendly bungalows that seemed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding jungle.
