The center provides optional wetsuits, splash tops, and neoprene booties. From there, a 15-minute shuttle ride will take them to the boat launch. A brief safety briefing will be conducted before embarking on the water. The half-day excursions offer approximately 3 hours of exhilarating whitewater experiences through a verdant forest. Once the journey concludes, participants will board the shuttles for a short 5-minute return trip to the community center.

The Upper McKenzie Community Center is the Large Red Building on McKenzie River Drive. Look for the flags the say "RAFTING". Please park in the gravel lot behind the building where you will meet our guides at the check in station.

Riverlicious - Thorn was a awesome guide. We had a blast and really enjoyed the sights too. If you get the chance, swim the vortex.

Horse Creek 100% - We are already planning our return trip! 4 kids, 14-12-7 and 5 the family rafting was a highlight. We did the power-hour first day and kids did great so we added the 1/2 day trip on the next day. Absolutely incredible to introduce our family to rafting in this pristine environment. Our guides were friendly and 100% safe and professional. The accessible biking was an incredible bonus and the new equipment is professionally maintained and safe. The mountain biking is beginner to seriously advanced...they will help you find the right trail system for your family! Again, we are already planning our next trip! Mackenzie Bridge and Horse Creek 100%

Great whitewater rafting trip - Extremely accommodating, knowledgeable, safety minded. Have used other river companies on the McKenzie, Horse Creek Outfitters is the best. Karyn was guide and kept us entertained the whole trip with her knowledge of river and area, as well as her rafting ability. Keep in mind the river is cold and you do get wet!! Fun, would do it again.

Best Family Choice! - A very safe and scenic river rafting experience for our whole family (ages 8-82!). Alyssa was so very helpful with everything about the area. A very professional operation. Our guide Josh was top notch - fun, knowledgeable, experienced, and safety-first oriented. Also our guide Archer was awesome too! Beautiful, scenic, a complete blast for the whole family!

Best day! - Karen did a terrific job. The weather was perfect. It was part exhilarating and part relaxing. She had a lot of information to share with us. Great experience. I highly recommend it. Suitable for middle aged folks as well as the young.

Excellent first-timers trip with children! - Even though the weather was chilly and it sprinkled on and off, our family (14 yo and 10 yo) had the best time with Josh! He set us up with the necessary gear to enjoy the day and was very knowledgeable about the river as we rafted through. He was really patient with our boys, who had an absolute blast on the rapids. It was a perfect trip for a first time or anyone who enjoys moderate rapids with periods of clam floating along with the current.
Highly recommend a white water trip with Horse Creek and Josh!

Best Rafting Tour!! - We had the very best experience rafting on the McKenzie River with Horse Creek Outfitters!! Our group was in town for NON and we weren't sure if we would be able to fit in this adventure! Other tour companies had set times that didn't work for our group, but I called Alyssa that morning and she worked with our flexible timing all day to ensure we could make it work! Our guides Thorne and Karen were each unbelievable! So professional, knowledgeable, and interesting - they kept us safe and inspired the entire trip! We are SO glad we did this trip and Horse Outfitters made it happen!! It is a memory we will all treasure! THANK YOU!!!

Booking was a breeze — easy, straightforward, no hassle. Our guide Thorne was fantastic: competent on the water and genuinely friendly throughout the trip. You could tell he knew the river well and made the whole experience feel relaxed and fun.
The McKenzie flows out of ancient lava beds through stunning old-growth forest — the scenery alone is worth it. As a Class II and III river, it’s accessible for pretty much any experience level , but there’s still plenty of excitement on the water.
Would absolutely recommend Horse Creek to anyone looking for a great Oregon adventure. We’ll be back.
