Fuerteventura is 23 million years old, making the eruption of Calderón Hondo, which happened around 135,000 years ago, a relatively recent event in the island’s geological history.
The journey will start on an easily accessible cobblestone path. Standing at 278 meters high, the summit offers a viewing point at the volcano’s edge with breathtaking views of the crater, as well as Majanicho, the Corralejo Dunes, and Lanzarote.
This entire volcanic region is of significant geological, scenic, and cultural interest, with archaeological remains from the pre-Hispanic era nearby, including circular dry stone structures that were used as homes and livestock enclosures.
