A Dawn Departure to Ol Pejeta

The anticipation was palpable as I set my alarm for the early hours of the morning. The promise of a day filled with wildlife encounters at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy was enough to make the 5 a.m. departure feel like a small price to pay. As the sun began to rise, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, our journey to Laikipia County commenced. The drive was serene, with the landscape gradually transforming from urban to the wild, untamed beauty of the African savannah.

Arriving at Ol Pejeta around 8:30 a.m., the air was crisp and filled with the sounds of nature waking up. Our guide, a seasoned expert in the region’s wildlife, wasted no time in leading us into the heart of the conservancy. Our day concluded with a delightful lunch at the Sweetwaters Serena Camp, where we shared stories and experiences with fellow travelers.
