A Disappointing Dubai Desert Safari: Missed Expectations and Safety Concerns - A Disappointing Dubai Desert Safari: Missed Expectations and Safety Concerns Our eagerly anticipated "Evening desert safari with camel ride and BBQ dinner" in Dubai, booked two days in advance, unfortunately concluded with significant disappointment and even safety concerns. What was meant to be a memorable final night in Dubai became memorable for all the wrong reasons. Despite booking two days prior, we received no contact until 2:16 PM on the day of the safari, just 14 minutes before our scheduled 2:30 PM pick-up. We selected this pick up time at the time of booking. At that point, the driver called to inform us he wouldn't arrive until 3:40 PM. This last-minute change resulted in an hour-and-a-half of wasted time, leaving us waiting unnecessarily after being ready for our earlier pick-up. Upon pick-up, there was a complete lack of communication from the driver throughout the journey who had not even bothered to introduce himself to us. There was stop at a fuel station to fill up fuel – a task that surely should have been completed before commencing pick-ups. Our first stop was the dune bashing area. We had specifically chosen this safari without quad biking or 4x4 options, having experienced them on previous holidays. However, we were forced to wait an inconvenient 45 minutes while other guests participated in quad biking activities. This significant delay was not communicated beforehand and was a frustrating waste of our time. While the subsequent dune bashing was indeed thrilling and enjoyable, and the photo stop appreciated, the preceding wait cast a shadow. Our anticipation for the camel ride, touted as a key feature, quickly turned to profound disappointment at the second stop. The camels appeared visibly tired and reluctant to even stand, and the "ride" itself was a farce. It lasted a mere minute in total, with only 30 seconds of actual riding and the rest of the time consumed by the camel standing up, guests mounting, the camel sitting down, and guests dismounting. We have video evidence to confirm this outrageously short and poor-quality experience, leading us to opt out entirely. While the live entertainment – including belly dancing, fire, and Tanura shows – was genuinely excellent and delivered with great effort by the performers, the advertised "BBQ dinner" was a significant letdown. Despite the tour being marketed with a BBQ dinner in the title and in its description, what was served bore little resemblance to a BBQ. While vegetarian options were plentiful, the "BBQ" consisted of only two small pieces of chicken (no larger than 5cm) and a quarter of a seekh kebab. We were explicitly told this was the maximum we could have. The majority of the meal comprised curries and rice dishes like daal and chickpeas. This was not the BBQ dinner we were promised, and the discrepancy was frankly embarrassing and reflected terrible service. Perhaps the most concerning aspect of the entire experience was the driver's conduct. Throughout the journey, he was consistently using his phone, not just for calls, but also for texting. Alarming instances included him letting go of the steering wheel and swerving between lanes, posing a significant safety risk. It raises serious questions about the legality and company policy regarding phone use while driving in the UAE. Our last night in Dubai was intended to be a cherished memory. Instead, it will be remembered for its numerous frustrations: the lack of communication, the unnecessary delays, the sham of a camel ride, the misleading "BBQ" dinner, and critically, the dangerous driving. This experience was profoundly disappointing and a poor reflection on the tour

Not great - It was really disappointing - you are taken to a holding open for 45 mins and they try to persuade you to pay to do other activities. Our guide barely spoke to us. The sand dunes were fun. Everyone hassles you to take photos with birds. The food was poor and it was a long way away. The shows were ok but still weak. Wouldn’t recommend.
