- Ponta da Piedade - The cliffs at Ponta da Piedade headland are among the Algarve’s most remarkable natural attractions. This striking limestone coastline features sea pillars, delicate rock arches, and hidden grottos, all sculpted by fierce winter storms.
Ponta da Piedade is a rugged and windswept headland, with its true beauty revealed when descending the cliffs. Here, the exposed cliffs display their golden hues, and the turquoise sea gently laps against precariously balanced rock formations. The headland is nothing short of breathtaking.
Visitors to Ponta da Piedade can explore the headland in two ways: from the land via coastal footpaths or from the sea on a boat tour. These tours utilize former fishing boats.
- Praia da Rocha - Praia da Rocha is a beach located in the municipality of Portimão, in the Algarve.
This beach boasts a vast expanse of sand, covering an area of approximately 146,000 m² along 1.5 km of coastline.
Adjacent to the beach stands the Fortress of Santa Catarina, constructed in the 17th century to protect the mouth of the Arade River.
The beach derives its name from the rocks found between the sand and the sea. It is one of the most renowned beaches in the Algarve, if not the entire country.
Every summer, the beach is teeming with tourists from around the globe, and despite its large size, it is rarely uncrowded. In recent years, it has hosted the Mundialito de Futebol de Praia, held in a stadium built for this purpose, with a capacity of 3,000 people.
- Marina de Portimão - Surrounded by some of Europe’s most famous and beautiful beaches, Marina de Portimão has established itself as a leading Portuguese destination, favored by mega-yachts up to 50m. Situated on the country’s safest bar, on the wide estuary of the River Arade, it spans an area of about 25 ha, framed by the forts of Santa Catarina and S. João, and offers magnificent support facilities.
The Marina features deep waters that allow entry and exit at any tide, a wide entrance, and developed maneuvering areas, sheltered from prevailing winds. It is part of a luxury condominium with an Exclusive Beach, Hotel, Restaurants, Shops, Bars, and a magnificent Oceanic Pool facing the sea.
- Carvoeiro - With a rich history, this charming fishing village has evolved in recent years as a hub of tourism.
Carvoeiro has long attracted various civilizations. In this stunning stretch of the Algarve coast, where nature has worked wonders, the sea was the final resting place for Romans, victims of naval battles and storms, whose remains (a Roman block and an anchor) attest to their presence.
According to historical sources, the village’s current name is derived from an old fishermen’s village of Arab-medieval origin, which has withstood the test of time and thrived.
Like other parishes in the municipality, Carvoeiro also participated in the expansion of the canning industry, which created numerous jobs and wealth while it was in full operation.
However, from the 1960s onwards, the area’s excellent natural conditions led to a tourism boom.
- Algar Seco Rocks - In the Algarve, in Carvoeiro, lies the natural monument Algar Seco. This true marvel of nature consists of a series of rocks and rugged caves, carved over centuries by the wind, and natural pools with incredibly blue water. Holes in the rocks give them the appearance of windows and balconies.
- Praia da Marinha - Praia da Marinha is one of Portugal’s most beautiful and iconic beaches, also recognized as one of Europe’s top 10 most beautiful beaches and one of the world’s top 100 by the Michelin Guide.
It was even awarded the “Praia Dourada” by the Ministry of the Environment in 1998 for its unique natural values. In addition to this prestigious award, it also became the promotional image of the ‘Guia de Portugal’ distributed worldwide.
- Centro Historico de Albufeira - Albufeira Old Town Square is the vibrant heart of the charming Albufeira Old Town. This lovely, tree-shaded public space offers exquisite dining, entertainment, and people-watching, along with a fantastic shopping experience. No matter the time of day, there is always something to do in Albufeira Old Town Square.
Explore the variety of shops, offering everything from beach toys to branded clothing and souvenirs. The Old Town also houses the Galeria de Arte Pintor Samora Barros, which hosts a range of art exhibitions, making it a perfect day out.
