Luang Prabang Stage Show | Buddha’s Light - Come to Luang Prabang, the "Buddhist city" and see ancient temples during the day. At night you might want to step into a stage about faith and culture. Buddha’s Light is a cultural performance created by Luang Prabang International Theatre, which combines dance, music, drama, lighting and projection inspired by Buddhist classics, Lao folklore and traditional culture. 🌿 From Lotus to Buddha Light, tell the story of an awakening journey The stage begins with the story of all things heaven and earth: The lotus flowers faded, the divine tree appeared and Buddha came down to earth. Through dance and light, the actors present compassion, cause and effect, reincarnation and enlightenment in Buddhism. Even if you don't know Buddhism, you can feel its expression of kindness, hope and inner peace. ✨ A few moments worth watching Gorgeous traditional costumes, young actors' dances and changing lighting scenes give ancient cultures the vitality of a modern stage. The show begins with a traditional welcome dance and blessing ceremony; at the end, the actors see off the audience to make the evening more of a complete cultural experience. 🎭 Real feeling It's not a big Broadway musical, it's more of a Lao cultural showcase. The plot is uncomplicated and focuses on vision, music, dance and the transmission of Buddhist spirituality. If you like history, humanities and traditional art, this is a very special Luang Prabang night memory. 📍Luang Prabang International Theatre ⏰ It is recommended to arrive 30 minutes early for the welcome dance ðŸ A little further from the centre of the old city, it is recommended to take a breakout car 🎟️ VIP area with better view, ordinary tickets can also feel the complete atmosphere

Beautiful performances and clever staging. So glad I booked this. - Loved the welcome into the theatre and the costumes were beautiful. Clever use of animated backdrops, projections on scrims and live performance. Loved the rain curtain too. Great storytelling. And then they say goodbye so beautifully. So glad I went.

Buddhist Light Show - Before we went to the Opera House, we were welcomed by the beautifully dressed dancers. After the dance, a green branch was dipped in a water bowl and our hand was wetted with it. We were enchanted by the varied and very beautiful dances with a very beautiful splendor of colours and beautiful music accompaniment. Picking up from the hotel and returning to the hotel in a tuk-tuk worked flawlessly.

A must-see, interesting - Beautiful paintings to see, many dancers, and just for the work put in by the young people, to encourage them, you have to go. A cultural approach to Buddhism and Laos, magnificent costumes, beautiful performance by the young people.

Wrong marketing, this is a high school play - The biggest issue is that this show is improperly marketed. Had this been marketed as a high school play, and be more appropriately priced instead of $37, we would have gone in with different expectations. The entire show is basically interpretive dancing. They have plenty of beautiful costumes and the entire cast is like 40 people. All music is playback, there is no live music. We never felt drawn to leave, but you should be very aware that this is at a high school level. Its a good high school level, but still. (There were subtitles occasionally explaining what is going on, but it was on screens that were far off to the side with text moving incredibly slowly, so you couldn't watch the performance and read the text at the same time. The text also often just abruptly cut itself off so after I while I stopped reading it.) We also had the displeasure of experiencing the performance with a group of Chinese tourists. One guy behind us was literally speaking on his phone. One lady in front of us stood up several times and walked around in the rows to get a better angle to film the show on her phone. Someone else was scrolling social media and occasionally playing loud music on a video clip. The behavior of Chinese tourists is not the fault of the performers, but it was a significant contributor to the overall experience.
