Luang namtha trek - We had three wonderful days with our guides, Nom and Jium. They were very kind and funny, and they taught us a lot about the jungle. One night we slept in the middle of the jungle in a self-built camp and the other night in a base camp. This was one of the best experiences of our trip!

Village life among the Kumbu people - A very colorful and unique experience with our young and easy going guide, Nom, who belongs to the Kumbu ethic group and who introduced us to the wedding ceremony that was taking place in the bride's house... Yes, we were lucky! Hope you' ll get the same!

Memorable experiences - It was an amazing experience. Xiong our Tour guide was very experienced with over 400 treks! He guided us up the hills, through the thick jungle down to the river and the rural town. At times it was a challenging uphill battle but Xiong made sure we had frequent stops. Together with another person who helped bring the food they prepared wonderfull meals. Xiong not only guided us through the jungle but impressed with his knowledge about the plants and surroundings but most importantly his craftmansship! Highlights : dense Jungle, challenging treks, refreshing river, cultural tribe experience, nice fews. Tip: when booking in winter (january) bring thermal underwear or equivalent. It gets down to 10 degree celsius in the night and you dont want to freeze. Sabai Sabai - take it slow and relax Thanks Xiong

Great trip - It was a great experience. Our guide Nom had good English and was very informed, and well-connected with the local people. The tour was relaxing, with lots of breaks and food preparation between the short bouts of hiking. The night by the river was good, full of frog chorus. But the highlight of the trip was visiting the village and staying there for half of the day, a night, and a morning to observe village life at different times of the day. It is really authentic and super interesting. In summary, great combination of beautiful jungles, tasty food prepared in front of you, education about local plants, and witnessing village life. We loved it, and it was super relaxing and enjoyable.

Jungle Trekking with Phou Iu Travel & Ecotourism - Do it with them! - Firstly, it's a great experience and I really recommend doing it! I think the trekking, jungle stay, and village homestay are similar no matter which agency you go with but what made this an INCREDIBLE experience for me, were the local guides that we went with - Nom (English speaking and from the Khmu people) and Sai (from a village in the jungle). Nom is so kind, friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and just such a lovely person. He showed us so many plants and bugs, explained so many things, and answered all our questions. His English is very good, he looked after us so well, and he is extremely modest! Other tourists we briefly met along the way (trekking with other companies) were asking him questions because he's such an awesome guide! Together with Sai, we were taken through the jungle, stopping whenever we needed a break, and shown so many things. They are constantly working, preparing everything, cooking us very tasty food and making tea (everything was so tasty), set up our sleeping area, made us walking sticks and bamboo mugs (which we kept as a souvenir) and found us different things to taste along the way (plants, nuts and even some bugs if you're up for it!). The jungle was incredible. So peaceful yet full of life. The scenery kept changing. The stars at night are insane! Our hosts from our homestay were friendly and lovely. There are a few activities arranged for tourists in the village but otherwise the people get on with the normal lives and have to work very hard. There were many times during the 3 days/2 nights that I was in awe at the sight in front of me. I'm really glad I did it, it's humbling, and I made so many amazing memories. Gosh, there is so much more I could say but it's best you do it yourself, and go with this company, and Nom, (and hopefully Sai if he's chosen from his village that day!) to really get the best experience. You won't regret it.

Experience of country. - Our Nom and Sing guides know the Nam Ha reserve and their profession perfectly. With their kindness and always smiling, they have always listened and cared for us.They have concocted us wonderful typical dishes and explain to us so much about the life of the Khamu tribes isolated in the jungle. I highly recommend them.

3 day trekking with two nights camping and homestay - We were not sure what to expect, so we had an open mind. It did start surprisingly, since Deang contacted us the afternoon before via WhatsApp and wanted to meet and to discuss the 3 day trek. That was helpful and allowed us to prepare even a bit better. The trekking was anything from quite easy to "holy cow, how do we get down there?". Nothing too challenging, since we did bring quite some experience from hiking in the Swiss Alps. Only two things we did not expect: We had to cross twice a river, where the water was quite pulling and rised up to the underwear (hiking pants were off).
