The tour spans approximately 8 to 9 hours from start to finish. After collecting all participants, the journey begins with a 2-hour drive to the first attraction. Here, participants can enjoy the fresh air, explore a historic cemetery, and take in stunning landscapes before reaching Charquini base camp, situated at 4,800 meters above sea level. From this point, a trek of about 1 hour leads to the Emerald Lagoon, located at an altitude of 5,024 meters above sea level. At the lagoon, participants will spend around an hour appreciating the scenery while enjoying snacks. Following this, the group will begin the return hike and head back to La Paz.
This hike is not overly strenuous and offers views of some of the Andes Mountains, culminating at one of La Paz’s most renowned lagoons. The altitude of the attraction is noteworthy, making it an ideal choice for those looking to acclimate before ascending Huayna Potosi.
