Setting Sail to La Paz

The sun was just beginning to rise as I found myself in the early morning embrace of Cabo San Lucas, ready to embark on a journey that promised to be both exhilarating and serene. The whispers of the ocean had called me to La Paz, a place where the gentle giants of the sea, the whale sharks, awaited. With a group of fellow adventurers, we were whisked away in comfortable shuttles, our excitement palpable as we made our way to La Paz. The drive, though long, was punctuated by a delightful breakfast stop at La Garita, where the flavors of Mexico danced on our taste buds, setting the tone for the day ahead.

Upon arrival in La Paz, the team at Tuna Tuna was ready to welcome us. Though Juan Carlos, the owner, was not present, his family and team exuded warmth and hospitality, making us feel like part of their extended family. The anticipation built as we were briefed on the day’s adventure, the promise of swimming alongside whale sharks hanging in the air like a sweet melody.

A Dance with the Giants

As a marine biologist, the ocean is my second home, yet the thrill of encountering a whale shark never diminishes. Our guides, Christian and Lorenzo, led us to a spot away from the usual crowds, where the water was clearer and deeper.
