A Christmas Eve to Remember

As the sun rose on Christmas Eve, I found myself aboard a boat heading towards Espiritu Santo Island, a place that had long been on my bucket list. The anticipation was palpable as we set sail, the promise of snorkeling with sea lions and exploring the island’s rich history beckoning us forward. Our group was a mix of snorkelers and divers, each of us eager to experience the wonders of this marine paradise.

As we cruised through the azure waters, we were graced by the presence of two giant manta rays, their majestic wings spanning an impressive 9-10 feet. Unaware of his condition, Karla instinctively stayed by his side, guiding him back to the boat with patience and care. Her kindness and attentiveness ensured his safety while allowing him to savor a special moment with a curious sea lion. It was a testament to the human spirit, a reminder of the power of empathy and connection in the natural world.
