Incredible Views and an Accessible Volcano Experience - We had an amazing time at Arenal Volcano Ecological Park, it was one of the highlights of our trip. The hike out to the lava fields was very manageable, even for bigger, non-athletic folks like us, which made the experience feel accessible without taking away from how incredible it was. Getting that close to the volcano was absolutely breathtaking. We’ve never experienced anything like it and were honestly in awe the entire time. We also loved the surrounding area, especially the lake and the variety of activities available. There’s so much to do, whether you want a relaxed visit or something more adventurous. On top of everything, the entrance fee was very affordable for such a unique and memorable experience. Highly recommend—this is a must-do if you’re visiting the Arenal area!

Great Place!! - This is a family friendly park with lots to do! I especially love it because it’s pet friendly!! It’s one of the few hiking spots near La Fortuna that allows dogs on leash. Trails are well marked and maintained and if you’re lucky you can see howlers, toucans, spider monkeys and beautiful flowers. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a rain poncho just in case. Also the view once you reach the lava fields is amazing. Want a challenge? Do the pink trail! Hard but rewarding!!

Volcano views - Beautiful view of the volcano and lots to do in the park. I recommend! Note there is a steep uphill from the park entrance to the start of the trail. There is a shuttle back to la fortuna central area at the park entrance.

Beautiful hike with lots to see! - Beautiful hike, super friendly for solo hikers! The scenery is beautiful, the price for entrance was completely fair. So many beautiful plants and flowers to see, saw lots of wildlife, as well! Took me about 2.5 walking at a decent pace but stopping for photos along the way. Be prepared with rainproof items! 💕

We tried to book Poas... - We tried to book Poas through Viator. When we clicked through on the website to buy, somehow it defaulted to Arenal. So we ended up accidentally with the wrong tickets (we had already seen Arenal the day before). The problem was that we only noticed after travelling 5 hours to Poas the next day. I think the website could be a lot clearer and we would like a refund because we had to rebuy the Poas tickets on the gate to Poas, which was a very difficult process because the SINAC website is terrible. Infact, because the SINAC website is so bad that is why we ended up on the Viator website. So I think the Viator website is better then the SINAC Poas one, but Viator really need to make it clear which experience the customer is buying.
