After completing the pickup, the group embarks on a 20-minute drive to a stunning park located at the base of the Arenal Volcano. The adventure begins with a hike through dense forest trails, gradually bringing participants closer to the Arenal Volcano. After approximately an hour of navigating hilly paths and passing numerous towering trees, the tropical forest is left behind. Upon reaching an open area, participants are treated to their first clear view of the tour’s destination—the Arenal Volcano.

Traversing some farmland, the group arrives at a picturesque green lake situated at the edge of the lava fields. Following a brief pause, they pass by the cemetery of the victims from the second explosion of the 1968 eruption. The journey continues with a climb up a staircase leading to the top of the lava fields. Following a trail cut through the sharp rocks, the group reaches the highest existing viewpoint.

From this vantage point, the breathtaking sights include the lava fields, Arenal Lake, the plains of the northern lowlands, endless forests, and, of course, the majestic cone of Arenal towering above.

As the hike moves away from the volcano, more forest is explored, offering a good chance of encountering wildlife. The guides are on hand to share insights about the fascinating rainforest ecosystem. After enjoying the provided lunch package, the group heads down to the Observatory Park.

At the Observatory Park, participants can relish the panoramic view of the volcano and lake from another spectacular angle. From here, a light hike through gardens, farmland, and forest ensues. Two hanging bridges are crossed, and the Danta River and waterfall are visited. At the waterfall, participants can enjoy a refreshing swim or simply relax and take in the scenery. Exiting the forest, the group reaches the Arenal Scientific Observatory. Here, they can view the seismograph, and the guide will provide further information about the volcano using images and pictures in the small museum. The hike concludes at the deck, where the hope is to witness the sun setting over Lake Arenal. Some delicious Costa Rican coffee is enjoyed before boarding the bus for the final part of the day.

To conclude the tour in the most relaxing manner, participants are taken to the natural hot water river. Here, they can unwind in the soothing warm water for about an hour, enjoying a volcanic mud facial and a complimentary cocktail.

The tour concludes at approximately 7:30 PM with a drop-off at the hotel.

Our journey begins with a visit to the suspension bridges of Mistico Park. A knowledgeable guide accompanies you to introduce you to the ecosystem. As you navigate the trails and bridges, you are treated to expansive vistas of the forest, Lake Arenal, and Arenal Volcano.

We then short drive to another park, situated directly at the base of the volcano. We tread a path through the massive lava rocks emanating from the eruption of ‘68. Upon reaching a lookout, stunning views of Arenal Volcano, the surrounding lava fields, and the Northern valley unfurl before you.

Next, we take a break at a local restaurant which offers an array of traditional local cuisine.

We then prepare you for an aquatic adventure. A 20-minute hike through a verdant jungle staircase leads you into a deep canyon containing the magnificent La Fortuna waterfall. You’re invited to take a dip in its rejuvenating pool and unwind on the larger stones.

After participating in all these activities, it’s up to you to decide whether to accompany us to a cozy hot springs resort. Here, we also offer to mix you some traditional cocktails to add to the enjoyment.
