This walk is ideal for those who embrace the rain and enjoy the untouched wilderness, far from tourist traps or urban areas. This rural conservation initiative aims to preserve this land indefinitely and eventually create employment for locals. The walk is easy, though the trails are unpaved. Participants will have the chance to engage with a local expert in birds, conservation, botany, and sustainability, learning about the positive changes this area has undergone over the past decade. The region now boasts a diverse array of edible, medicinal, spiritual, and other beneficial plants, alongside regenerative development, creating a thriving environment for wildlife and showcasing the forest at its finest. Additionally, visitors will encounter some of the largest trees in all of Costa Rica.
- Guanacaste National Park - As you travel, witness the transition from dry forest to rainforest while passing by Guanacaste National Park and the magnificent Orosà volcano. The journey includes a visit to the quaint town of Santa Cecilia, renowned for its volcanoes and orange production. Upon arrival, a 4x4 shuttle will transport you from the meeting point to the walking point, where an educational walk will commence. This walk covers topics such as the area’s ecology, wildlife observation, and insights into the overall project. Visitors will also see some of Costa Rica’s largest trees, adorned with epiphytes, lichens, and mushrooms. This location is one of the premier birdwatching spots in the entire Guanacaste region.

This tour invites you to explore a conservation and permaculture initiative aimed at revitalizing the local economy and safeguarding 300 acres of land for future generations. Adjacent to the renowned Guanacaste Conservation Area, our project, Finca Los Wilas, serves as a natural corridor, allowing wildlife to move safely and ensuring the site’s preservation. It is the nearest rainforest to the La Cruz area and the beaches of Costa Rica’s North Pacific. A short drive will reveal the remarkable transition from a tropical dry forest to a rainforest, offering stunning views of the volcanoes.
Upon arrival, a guided walk through the forest will provide insights into the forest’s ecology, including its plants, animals, medicinal resources, regenerative development, and conservation efforts. Additionally, if available, you can sample organic fruits grown at the project and explore the diverse products offered at Finca Los Wilas.
