• Kinkakuji Temple - The Kinkakuji, or Golden Pavilion, is renowned for its striking color. The top two floors are entirely adorned with gold leaf. After admiring the Kinkakuji Temple, visitors can continue to explore the traditional Japanese garden.
• Nijo Castle - Nijo Castle was constructed as a residence for the first shogun of the Edo era, Ieyasu Tokugawa. Following the fall of the Tokugawa shogunate, the castle served as an imperial palace for a period. It has since been donated to the city and is now open to the public.
• Nishiki Market Shopping District - Nishiki Market is a narrow, five-block-long shopping street featuring over one hundred shops and restaurants. Known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” this bustling market specializes in all things food-related, including fresh seafood, produce, knives, and cookware. It is an excellent place to discover seasonal foods and Kyoto specialties, such as Japanese sweets, pickles, dried seafood, and sushi. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy lunch and shop for souvenirs here.
• Kiyomizu-dera Temple - Kiyomizudera is one of Japan’s most esteemed temples. It was established at the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto, taking its name from the waterfall’s pure waters. Kiyomizudera underwent renovations starting in 2008, which were completed in 2019.
• Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine - The Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine is the most significant shrine dedicated to Inari. It is renowned for its thousands of Torii gates, donated by companies and individuals.
