Well Organized Kyoto Sightseeing with Outstanding Guide - The activity made wonderful use of the time available, allowing us to experience most of Kyoto’s major attractions in a single day without ever feeling disorganized. The itinerary was thoughtfully designed and carefully tailored to our interests, which made the entire experience feel personal, seamless, and far more meaningful than a standard sightseeing tour. Every stop felt purposeful, and the pacing reflected a genuine consideration for our preferences and comfort.
Our guide, Dhanu, was truly exceptional throughout the day. His warm personality, professionalism, and attentive nature made a significant difference to our overall experience. He ensured we felt at ease at every moment, particularly by giving us ample time to soak in the beauty of Arashiyama at a relaxed pace, which we greatly valued. His enthusiasm for Kyoto was infectious, and his ability to share insights and stories about each location brought the city’s history and charm vividly to life.
In addition to his guiding skills, Dhanu demonstrated remarkable photography talent. He went out of his way to help us capture stunning photographs at some of the most picturesque spots, thoughtfully suggesting ideal angles and scenic viewpoints to preserve these memories beautifully. His cheerful encouragement and genuine care added warmth and joy to the journey, making even the longest moments feel engaging and rewarding.

Best day Ever !!! - Raza was truly an exceptional guide for our full day in Kyoto, and we could not have asked for a better experience from start to finish. From the moment we met him in the morning, he was punctual, well-prepared, and greeted us with a warm and friendly attitude that immediately made us feel comfortable. Throughout the entire day, nothing was ever too much trouble for him. He remained patient, calm, and incredibly accommodating to our preferences.
What stood out most was how flexible and thoughtful he was when planning our day. We had a list of places we wanted to see, and he not only arranged everything smoothly but also suggested additional hidden spots that we would have never discovered on our own. These were some of the most memorable places of the day—quiet temples, beautiful viewpoints, charming old streets, and peaceful spots away from the typical tourist crowds. Raza knows Kyoto not just as a guide, but with the familiarity of someone who truly appreciates the history and atmosphere of the city.
His knowledge of Kyoto’s cultural heritage, religious traditions, architecture, and historical background was genuinely impressive. He shared stories and explanations in a way that was engaging and easy to understand, helping us see the significance behind everything we were visiting. The fact that he speaks fluent English and Japanese made the entire experience seamless. He was able to communicate with locals effortlessly, arrange timings, help with tickets, make restaurant suggestions, and guide us smoothly throughout the day without any confusion.
Another huge benefit was his driving. Raza is an excellent driver—very professional, careful, and calm behind the wheel. The car was comfortable and clean, and we felt very safe the whole time. Because of his smooth driving and local route knowledge, we were able to cover a lot of ground without feeling tired or rushed. We ended up seeing far more than we expected while still having enough time to relax, enjoy each place properly, and take photos.
More than anything, what made the day special was Raza’s personality. He is kind, respectful, funny, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He treated us not just as customers, but with the care of someone who truly wants you to have a beautiful experience. By the end of the day, it felt like we were travelling with a friend who knows Kyoto inside and out.
We are deeply grateful for the wonderful memories he helped create for us. We highly, highly recommend Raza to anyone visiting Kyoto—whether it’s your first time or your tenth. If you want a relaxed, well-organized, meaningful, and unforgettable day, he is absolutely the person you should book. Thanks to Raza, our Kyoto trip became one of the most memorable parts of our entire journey.

Our guide was friendly... - Our guide was friendly and shared tips and tricks for navigating the sites. He took us anywhere we wanted to go and was easy to communicate with on What’s App. He allowed us to stay as long as we wanted at each location. You’re basically setting a driver for the day. It was a private vehicle that suited our party of 4 comfortably. The vehicle was very clean, comfortable and could accommodate a group of 6. We did feel the price was a little steep but we also covered a fair amount of ground once we got back to the hotel a mapped it. BE SURE TO BRING PLENTY OF YEN WITH YOU AS THE TEMPLES DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS

Our driver and guide, Usama, was amazing, friendly and helpful, and made sure we had enough time everywhere we went. We really enjoyed the day and took so many beautiful photos to remember it by.
It was a perfect way to explore so much of Kyoto in one day.

Kyoto Day Trip - This was more of a private driver with self guided tour. There was limited info given. Stops felt rushed and my guide didn’t know as much as I expected. Being driven was convenient thus the 3 stars. However if I had known the quality of this tour, I would have saved my money. My guide was often dismissive and knew limited history or importance of some sites. For one site in which he accompanied me, I had to pay his admission fee. I was left to see Gion on my own and realized I missed one of the main areas right before it was time to leave.
My guide wasn’t aware of the itinerary advertised on the site or my pickup location. I am not sure if this was due to Viator or the contracted tour company. Lastly at departure, I wanted to give a small tip ( felt it would be courteous to give a private guide a little money since it was his car and gas) but needed change. He didn’t have it and requested I go into a store to get change. He decided to go instead. He had to then go into the train station to find a different store to make change. This was irritating to say the least and felt like it further cheapened the experience.
I typically hate to leave bad reviews but this tour needs to be fixed. English speaking doesn’t mean you are getting the same as a more local guide that speaks English. I would have been better off using Uber or taxi to get around to sites. Luckily Kyoto is amazing by itself so I still enjoyed my day.

Kyoto private day tour - Not really a tour but a drive. You are given time at the various places but you are effectively on your own. Our driver was fine, although confusion over pick up point delayed the start by 45 mins. Highly recommend getting a specific as possible pick up point, not just railway/hotel exit as there are many exits. Communication is via a Pakistan link so you need your phone to be aware. Lunch was brilliant.

Would consider choosing again - Was not overly pleased as it felt like we just had a private driver but nothing really more. There was a lack of enthusiasm from the guide which in a way makes sense when you have an expat doing this that does not fully understand Japanese culture and history. We expected lot more. I will give credit for the effort on the part of the guide being flexible and helpful but overall our expectation and value for the money we paid was dismal.
