Cycling is not permitted here. Please walk and push your bicycle for a short distance (100m).
- Shimogamo Jinja - Shimogamo Shrine is one of Kyoto’s oldest shrines, dating back to 90 BC.
- Kamogawa River - Enjoy a 30-minute bike ride along the river.
- Gion - Gion is a renowned traditional entertainment district. Capture the quintessential “Japanese” scenery and take photos, but remember to show respect to the Geisha, as they are not performers.
The Gion-Gojyo area (5th street crossing Gion) is highly recommended.
Gion-Shijyo (4th street crossing Gion) is marked on the guide map, but cycling is heavily restricted here due to the high number of taxis. For safety, it may be necessary to dismount and walk your bike.

Additionally, the tour includes visits to local shops and street food vendors, exploring backstreets. Enjoy treats like matcha ice cream, small bakery items, “Dashimaki,” and Japanese croquettes at a meat shop. You can make small purchases upon request.
Finally, the tour will include a ride along the famous “Kamogawa” river on the return journey. The flat cycling path allows for speeds of up to 40 km (25 miles) per hour, with safety as a priority.
