Family friendly tasting tour! - We had a great time visiting the market with Yuki! It was nice to learn a little history before diving into tastings all across the market. (Come hungry!) Lunch was delicious and relaxed. We brought our three year old and everyone was so kind — he had a blast too. And we so appreciated all the photos Yuki took!

A delightful food tour - Our tour with Amy was a delight, the food she showed us was delicious, and the size of the group (4 people) perfect. Can recommend to anyone wanting to have a guided tour through the food market of Kyoto.

Perfect combination of food culture and history! - We had an amazing experience on the Nishiki Market Brunch Walking Tour and can’t recommend our guide, Takaya highly enough. He brought Kyoto’s culture and history to life with clear visual diagrams, cool fun facts, and engaging anecdotes that made everything easy to understand and genuinely interesting. He was friendly, welcoming, curious, and incredibly patient, and his English was clear and fluent throughout. The food experience was fantastic—we started with a snack, enjoyed a full meal, and then got to try multiple other snacks and desserts along the way. He was also happy to customize the tour to our interests, which made it feel very personal. As a bonus, he acted as our personal photographer and knew all the best spots for great pictures. Because the tour was in the morning, we were able to see popular places without the crowds, which made the experience even better. We were also lucky to be visiting in the low season, so even though we booked a group tour, it ended up being a private one. Overall, an engaging, thoughtful, and memorable tour: a perfect combination of food, culture and history—one of the highlights of our time in Kyoto!

A Fantastic Tour with Hidden Gems – Ask for Yuki! - I can’t recommend this walking food tour of Nishiki Market enough! It was the perfect way to explore the market beyond just the main stalls. We tried a great variety of different snacks, and the tour took us to several hidden gems that I definitely would have overlooked if I were just wandering around as a tourist. Our guide, Yuki, was the highlight of the experience. She was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, sharing so much insight into the food and culture. It was quite cold during our walk, and Yuki was thoughtful enough to bring hand warmers for us—such a kind touch that made a huge difference! The tour finished with a sit-down meal that had a bunch of different options to try, which was pretty amazing and a great way to end the day. I ordered steamed dumplings and they were amazing. If you want to see the best of Nishiki Market, definitely book this tour!

Amazing guides who go above & beyond - Our guides, Hikaru and Amy, made this trip special! We were in a group with another American who booked this trip just to be with Hikaru and I can see why! At the end, he gave us all a Christmas gift of some of his favorite Japan candies & things. But I am very appreciative to Amy. I was feeling sick and she took me to the drugstore at the market and helped me buy some medicine. It worked like a miracle and my trip was saved. I appreciate her so much! She was also very knowledgeable about the health benefits of some of the foods we tried. We were lucky to have 2 amazing guides this trip. We really like the brunch stop beyond the market tour. The restaurant was quaint and the food was excellent. We did 2 trips with Magical tour and one with a different group. I highly recommend Magical Tour for any of your experiences in Japan!

Great - Great experience with our guide Moon. Lots of choice and very interesting. she was an excellent host. I would say it might be difficult if you are fully vegetarian as many things are cooked in a fish derivative.

Fun tour of Nishiki Market area - Our tour guide Reiko took us on walking tour of Nishiki Market area. She shared the history, sights & food in the area around the market. Due to the earlier meet-up we avoided the crowds. The majority of the tour was quiet and slowly got busier towards the ending of the tour. We enjoyed tasty bites and did a lot of shopping along the way. The brunch was delicious and the restaurant owners were friendly and service was great throughout the meal. We would definitely recommend spending your morning with our guide Reiko.

Food tour with a twist - Yusuke was great and very knowledgeable! This turned out to be more of a guided cultural tour through Pontocho and Nishiki than a true food tour. It was very interesting but not what I would consider a typical food tour. So good experience overall but just realize it’s different than a “food” tour.
