Night Tours offer a unique opportunity to experience wildlife viewing in Bako National Park. After witnessing the park’s wildlife during the day, it’s time to embark on an adventure to discover nocturnal animals. These creatures, including the well-known proboscis monkeys, langurs, macaques, bearded wild boars, flying lemurs, and pit vipers, are more active at night.
Since most monkey species are diurnal, they typically sleep at night. As the tour begins just before sunset, participants can observe monkeys retreating to their forest canopy resting spots. Unlike other primates, monkeys do not build nests; instead, they find the most convenient space on a tree branch.
During the night walks, the tour seeks out insects, frogs, centipedes, scorpions, spiders, and pit vipers. The pit viper, a venomous snake with a green body and yellow underbelly, is arboreal and an excellent climber, often remaining motionless to ambush prey such as small mammals.
