- Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple and Zen Gardens - Visitors can explore a stunning Cave Temple with a Zen Garden, known as the Cave of Ultimate Bliss. Here, travelers can admire the impressive formations of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as various statues.
The Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple is a popular tourist attraction located in the scenic area of Gunung Rapat, south of Ipoh, the capital of Perak state in West Malaysia. The temple, situated on a 12-acre site, has been a place of worship since 1920. In 1960, it became part of an iron mining site, set within a large cave in the limestone outcrops behind Gunung Rapat.
The Kek Lok Tong complex features a central altar with numerous Buddhist figures and deities from the Chinese pantheon. The caves offer a unique garden view once inside. The limestone hill consists of light grey to white crystalline Kinta limestone interbedded with thin argillaceous material bands. Primary iron is still visible within the limestone. The award-winning landscape garden includes a jogging path around two lakes and one of the longest reflexology footpaths in Ipoh.
Entrance is FREE, but there is a donation booth for those who wish to contribute to the upkeep.
