- Petronas Twin Towers - Standing at 451.9 meters, the stunning Petronas Twin Towers are a globally recognized symbol of modern Malaysia. They are the centerpiece of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) development, which includes landmarks like the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Suria KLCC shopping mall, luxury hotels, a mosque, and the beautifully landscaped KLCC Park. Visitors can explore the Sky-bridge on the 41st floor and the Viewing Deck on the 86th floor.
- Istana Negara - Istana Negara, or the National Palace, is the official residence of the King of Malaysia. This grand structure located on Jalan Duta became the National Palace in November 2011, replacing the old palace on Jalan Istana. It features 22 domes, with the largest dome reaching a height of 40 meters. Note: Visits are restricted to the exterior.
- Kuala Lumpur City Gallery - Established in 1989, KL City Gallery has undergone various changes in purpose and occupancy since it stopped being used as a printing office. Past tenants included the Ministry of Labour and the Postal Authorities. The building now offers two floors of exhibition space, a cafe, a museum shop, and serves as a tourist information center.
- National Monument - The National Monument was erected to honor those who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom, especially during the nation’s fight against communism. The grounds feature one of the world’s largest free-standing bronze sculptures, created in 1966 by Felix de Weldon, who also designed the famous Iwo Jima monument in Washington DC.
- Merdeka Square - On August 31, 1957, the Union Jack was lowered at Dataran Merdeka to mark Malaysia’s independence from colonial rule, giving it the name ‘Independence Square’. Historically, the square hosted parades, cricket matches, and other significant events. Today, it is preserved with well-maintained lawns, terraces, and a fountain. Nearby is the Royal Selangor Club, a mock-Tudor building with a fascinating history. The 100-meter high flagpole at Dataran Merdeka is among the tallest in the world.
- Sultan Abdul Samad Building - A prominent and distinguished landmark in KL, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building remains a notable attraction amidst the city’s evolving skyline. Constructed in 1897 and named after the reigning monarch of the time, this stately building served as the government administrative center during the British era. Made entirely of brick, it features a Mahometan or Neo-Saracenic style with an impressive porch, elegant arches, gleaming copper domes, and a 41.2-meter high clock tower. It also houses a Tourist Information Center.
- Malayan Railway Administration Building - Known as one of Malaysia’s most beautiful old buildings, the Railway Station and Administration Building is a remarkable example of Moorish architecture.
- National Mosque (Masjid Negara) - Masjid Negara is one of the city’s most distinguished landmarks, featuring a unique star-shaped dome and a 73-meter high minaret. Located on the edge of the KL Lake Gardens, visitors are advised to dress modestly when visiting the mosque, with women required to wear headscarves. Those interested in Islamic arts can visit the Islamic Arts Centre, which overlooks the mosque.
- The River of Life - The River of Life (ROL) is a seven-year initiative led by the Malaysian Government to transform the Klang River into a vibrant, livable waterfront with significant economic value. Covering eight rivers with a total length of 110 kilometers, the project is divided into three major components.
- KLCC Park - KLCC Park is an urban park located in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre, designed to provide greenery to the Petronas Twin Towers and the surrounding areas.
