- National Monument - The National Monument was built to honor those who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom, especially during the nation’s fight against communism. The grounds feature one of the world’s largest free-standing bronze sculptures, created in 1966 by Felix de Weldon, who also sculpted the famous Iwo Jima monument in Washington, DC.
- Thean Hou Temple - Thean Hou Temple, built between 1981 and 1987, may not be old, but its traditional ornate facade hides a modern structure. The large temple spans six tiers and is managed by Malaysia’s Hainanese community, descendants of sea-faring fisherfolk from Hainan Island, China.
- Little India Brickfields - Brickfields started as a brick-making center in the late 19th century after a fire and flood devastated Kuala Lumpur in 1881. The disasters destroyed the town’s wooden and thatched buildings, prompting British Resident Sir Frank Swettenham to mandate the use of brick and tile in construction, giving the town its purpose.
- Sri Maha Mariamman Temple - This beautiful Hindu temple is one of the oldest, featuring a magnificent 22-meter-high gate tower and portico adorned with intricately carved images of Hindu deities. Inside, the deities of the Hindu goddess Maha Mariamman are embellished with gold and precious stones. The area is filled with the sights and sounds of peddlers selling jasmine garlands and aromatic incense.
- KLCC Park - KLCC Park is an urban park in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, designed to provide greenery to the Petronas Twin Towers and the surrounding areas.
- Istana Negara - Istana Negara, or the National Palace, is the official residence of the King of Malaysia. This grand building on Jalan Duta became the National Palace in November 2011, replacing the old palace on Jalan Istana. It features 22 domes, with the largest dome reaching 40 meters high. Note: Visits are limited to the exterior.
- Merdeka Square - Merdeka Square is located opposite the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and next to the Royal Selangor Club. This historic site is where the Union Flag was lowered, and the Malayan flag was raised for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957.
