Known as Independence Square, it was once the site of parades, cricket matches, and significant events. Today, it features manicured lawns, terraces, and a fountain. Adjacent to the square is the Royal Selangor Club, a mock-Tudor building with a rich history. The 100-meter high flagpole at Dataran Merdeka is among the tallest in the world.
