The first stop will be at the limestone hills of Batu Caves, which consist of three main caverns and several smaller caves. It is a shrine dedicated to Lord Murugah, a Hindu deity, and features a flight of 272 steps leading up to the temple cave. Another cave, known as the museum cave, is adorned with images of deities and murals depicting scenes from Hindu scriptures.

• Bukit Melawati - Bukit Melawati is a popular tourist destination. The hill offers views of the Strait of Malacca and features a lighthouse as well as the remains of the Kota Melawati fort.
• Altingsburg Lighthouse - Originally named Altingsburg Lighthouse after a Dutch governor, it was built in 1907 and began operating in 1910. This beautiful lighthouse sits atop Bukit Melawati in Kuala Selangor and is a great spot for photos. However, tourists are not permitted to enter the lighthouse.

For optimal visibility, the best time to witness Kuala Selangor’s fireflies is shortly after 8pm on a clear, moonless night. Any later, and the fireflies may have found a mate, causing them to stop flashing.
