• Kuala Lumpur - The tour begins around 9:00 am with a pickup from selected hotels in Kuala Lumpur city. The journey to the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) takes approximately one hour.

On the way, you will pass through typical Malay villages and see friendly locals going about their daily activities.

• FRIM - Forest Research Institute of Malaysia - Upon arrival at the forest institute, a nature trekking guide will be introduced. An overview of the location and activities will be provided immediately upon arrival before starting the jungle trek. Please wear suitable attire for these activities.

As you enter the trekking trail, you will be captivated by the arboretums or living museum of trees. Explore the numerous nature trails and discover the diverse species of flora and fauna here.

Of particular interest is the “puzzle-like” pattern of the individual tree crowns separated by gaps and outlined against the sky. This phenomenon is known as “Crown Shyness.” It is named so because the leaf tips of the Dryobalanops aromatica appear to shy away from their own kind, forming gaps.

This tree, also known as the kapur tree, has a pleasant-smelling exudate known as camphor, a key component in making ointment. The ointment is used for stomach massages after childbirth.

• Batu Caves - Batu Caves is a limestone hill featuring a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor. The limestone forming Batu Caves is estimated to be around 400 million years old. Some cave entrances were used as shelters by the indigenous Temuan people (a tribe of Orang Asli).

The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia.

Batu Caves is also referred to as the 10th Cave or Hill for Lord Murugan, as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The other three in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang, and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca.

• Jadi Batek Gallery - Next, visit the Batik Factory to see how Batik is designed and printed. This craft center, established in 1976, offers batik demonstrations and classes, along with Malaysian-made gifts and clothing.
• Royal Selangor Visitor Centre - The visitor center guides guests through the history of Royal Selangor’s pewter manufacturing. Explore museum exhibits and watch live demonstrations of pewter crafting, from casting and polishing to assembling.

Take a photo with the world’s largest pewter tankard, an iconic landmark of the visitor center. A unique rendition of the Petronas Twin Towers made from over 7,000 tankards.

During lunchtime, enjoy a set local lunch or packed food.

The tour concludes with a return to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
