• The Temple of Artemis - Artemis, the Greek goddess, was the virginal huntress and twin of Apollo, who succeeded the Titan Selene as Goddess of the Moon.

The ancient temple, built around 650 BC for the cult of Artemis, was constructed on a site already sacred to the Anatolian Mother Goddess, Cybele. Financed by the wealthy king of Lydia, the marshy ground was chosen as a precaution against future earthquakes.

Over time, it has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to natural disasters.

• The Basilica of Saint John - The Saint John Basilica is visible from a distance when visiting the Artemis temple. It is believed that the Evangelist St. John spent his last years in the region around Ephesus and was buried on the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill. St. John’s tomb was located under the central dome of the basilica.
