• The Basilica of Saint John - The Saint John Basilica is visible from a distance when visiting the Temple of Artemis. It is believed that the Evangelist St. John spent his final years in and around Ephesus and was buried on the southern slope of Ayosolug Hill. St. John’s tomb lies beneath the central dome of the Basilica.
• The Temple of Artemis - The Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, was dedicated to Artemis, the Greek goddess, virginal huntress, and twin of Apollo, who succeeded the Titan Selene as Goddess of the Moon. Constructed around 650 BC for the cult of Artemis, the temple was built on a site already sacred to the Anatolian Mother Goddess, Cybele. Financed by the wealthy king of Lydia, the marshy ground was chosen to protect against future earthquakes. Over time, it has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to natural disasters.
