Magnesia Antik Kenti - Situated in the Germencik district of Turkey’s western Aydın province, the ancient city of Magnesia was renowned as the “city of races,” drawing numerous visitors with its array of sporting events in antiquity. Today, it remains a popular destination for travelers, captivating them with its impressive stadium that once hosted athletic games, gladiatorial contests, and chariot races. The city is believed to have been established by the ancient Greek tribe of Magnetes from Thessaly. Although named after the Magnetes, it was later referred to as Magnesia on the Meander (The Büyük Menderes River) to differentiate it from the nearby Lydian city Magnesia ad Sipylum, now modern-day Manisa. Magnesia was located in Ionia, the ancient region on the central part of the western coast of Anatolia.

Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - Nestled in the Aladag Mountains, 5 miles from Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary is a revered site. At the third Ecumenical Council in 431 AD in Ephesus, it was asserted that Mary arrived in Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and resided there until her passing in 48 A.D. Following the house’s discovery, the Archbishop of Kusadasi declared it a pilgrimage site in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited and prayed at this sacred location.
