• Ancient City of Ephesus - After the initial greeting, there will be a brief 2-minute drive to the Ephesus area to explore one of Turkey’s main attractions. Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of the Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on the western coast of Asia Minor), is situated near Izmir. As a port city, it served as a significant departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor. Stroll through history along marble streets lined with magnificent public buildings, including the Baths of Scholastica and the Library of Celsus (constructed in the early 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila as a tribute to his father, Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of the Province of Asia). The Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of the most remarkable structures in Ephesus. The Grand Theater, built in the 3rd century B.C., was later expanded by the Romans in the 1st century A.D. to accommodate 24,000 spectators.
• Meryemana (The Virgin Mary’s House) - The next destination is The House of Virgin Mary, nestled in the Aladag Mountains, 5 miles from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council in 431 AD in Ephesus, it was asserted that Mary arrived in Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and resided there until her passing in 48 A.D. Following the house’s discovery, the Archbishop of Izmir declared it a pilgrimage site in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited and prayed at this location.

• Sirince - The tour continues with a drive to the charming old Turkish-Orthodox village of Sirince, perched atop a mountain, where visitors can admire the stunning vineyards and peach trees. Another highlight of Sirince is its fruity wine, available for tasting in quaint cafes.
