Angkor Wat - At 08:00 am, guests will be picked up from their hotel in Siem Reap in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. The journey begins at the Angkor Wat Ticket Office to purchase the necessary Angkor Pass. The first destination is Angkor Wat, a remarkably preserved archaeological site in Southeast Asia and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Visitors will be amazed by Angkor Wat’s grand structures and intricate architecture. Constructed in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat offers a fascinating exploration of its vastness, from intricately carved hallways and columns to mysterious chambers and expansive courtyards.
Angkor Thom South Gate - The tour continues with a visit to the Angkor Thom complex. Its impressive walls, measuring 6m wide, 8m high, and 13km long, enclose numerous monuments. Within these walls resided the king, his family, officials, military officers, and priests, while the rest of the population lived outside the grand enclosure, between two artificial lakes. The visit begins at the South Gate, a stunning introduction to Angkor Thom, featuring well-preserved statues of Asuras (demons) and gods lining the bridge.
Bayon Temple - The Bayon is a richly adorned Khmer temple located in Angkor, Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon is situated at the center of Jayavarman’s capital, Angkor Thom. Notably, the Bayon lacks an enclosing wall but is protected by the wall surrounding Angkor Thom. The Bayon’s layout is simple, comprising three levels with 200 smiling faces on the temple towers.
Terrace of the Elephants - The guide will lead visitors to the Terrace of the Elephants, which served as a platform for the King to welcome his victorious army, and the Terrace of the Leper King, featuring detailed carvings along a narrow passage leading to the Baphuon complex. If time allows, additional temples in the area may be visited.
Ta Prohm Temple - Built in the 12th century, Ta Prohm has been left to the jungle’s power by French archaeologists to showcase nature’s incredible force. The temple is largely engulfed by the jungle, with giant trees growing atop the stone structures. Visitors may feel as though Indiana Jones or Lara Croft might appear from behind a fallen pillar at any moment.
Siem Reap - Kampong Phluk Village and Tonle Sap Lake
Kampong Phluk Floating Village - At 8 am, guests will be picked up from their hotel for a 45-minute drive to the countryside. Upon reaching the quay, they will board a local boat for a 1.5-hour journey to Tonle Sap Lake. Along the way, they will pass through Kompong Phluk, a stilted village meaning ‘harbor of the tusks’. Visitors will see vibrant houses, schools, temples, a church, and local government offices. The sight of the lush flooded forest (during the rainy season) in the surrounding floodplain is awe-inspiring.
The boat ride continues past the village to the vast waterscape of Tonle Sap Lake. An experienced guide will share insights about Cambodia’s vital life-giving resources.
Optional (rainy season only): Enjoy a magical canoe ride through the dense mangrove forest. Guests can inform their guide if they wish to take this short tour at an additional cost.
Visit the Artisan school and Old Market before returning to the hotel in town.
