Kampong Phluk Floating Village - Begin the day at 7:30 am with a departure from the hotel, heading through the countryside to the world’s second-largest freshwater body, Tonle Sap Lake.
Tonle Sap Lake expands to 12,000 km². In the dry season, it reduces to about 2,500 km², flowing into the Tonle Sap River. Annually, millions of fish spawn in the seasonally flooded forests around the lake, attracting numerous water birds and people who have settled in villages along the shores, living in harmony with the water’s rhythm. This ecosystem was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1997.
Embark on a boat trip to ‘Kampong Phluk,’ a group of three small fishing villages set in a picturesque flooded forest. Cruise through the village to see unique stilt houses and Cambodians working in the floating forest. The boat will gently navigate through forest canals, offering glimpses of flora and fauna and showcasing a truly stunning ecosystem. Enjoy a Khmer lunch at a local restaurant and relax after visiting Tonle Sap Lake.
Note: As an alternative during the dry season from March 1 to June 31, the group will visit Phare The Cambodia Circus (seat C) instead.
Bakong - The Roulous ruins are among the oldest Khmer monuments in the region, dating back to the 9th-century reign of King Indravarman I. Observe the evolution of these magnificent temples from the early Khmer empire to its zenith with the Angkor temples in the 13th century. Three key Hindu structures remain at Roulous: Lolei, Bakong, and Preah Ko, all part of the ancient city of Hariharalaya.
Phare, The Cambodian Circus - As an alternative during the dry season from March 1 to August 31, the group will visit Phare The Cambodia Circus (seat C) instead.
Siem Reap’s most unique and authentic top-rated evening entertainment.
More than just a circus, Phare performers use theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to narrate uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk, and modern. The young circus artists will amaze with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm, and talent.
Temples of Angkor with Sunrise
Angkor Wat - Begin with a pre-dawn departure (4:00 to 4:30 am depending on the time of year) from the hotel for sunrise outside Angkor Wat. Enter the grand temple in darkness from the less-visited eastern side, and quietly walk along ancient cloistered corridors past the world’s longest stretch of bas-relief carvings.
Experience the dawn atmosphere at Angkor Wat from the edge of one of the ancient library pools. Then explore the interior of the grand temple, spending a thorough two hours discovering the corridors, central chambers, and upper terraces of this magnificent temple. An expert local guide will unravel the myriad of stories behind the bas-relief carvings, providing insight into life during the height of the Khmer empire. Conclude the tour at Angkor with breakfast outside the temple (takeaway from the hotel) and a brief rest.
Angkor Thom South Gate - This majestic site once served as the Khmer Empire’s splendid capital city. Take a moment to appreciate its grandeur before entering the city.
Angkor Thom - Angkor Thom is the majestic site that once served as the Khmer Empire’s splendid capital city. Take a moment to appreciate its grandeur before entering the city. Upon arrival at the Bayon temple, admire its beautifully crafted central towers adorned with over 200 enormous faces.
Terrace of the Elephants - Pass by the renowned Terrace of the Leper King and the Terrace of Elephants.
Ta Prohm Temple - One of the most atmospheric temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm today appears much as it did in the early 1850s when French explorer Henri Mouhot ‘rediscovered’ this crumbling site. After exploring the maze-like interior of Ta Prohm, return to the hotel after a long but rewarding day, leaving with a lifetime of memories of one of the world’s wonders.
Bantreay Srei Temple and Big Circuit Tour
Preah Khan - Start the morning journey by traveling to Preah Khan temple, a ruined yet highly atmospheric blend of tree roots and crumbling stone structures.
Neak Pean - Proceed to Neak Pean, an artificial island with a Buddhist temple on a circular island in Jayatataka Baray.
Banteay Srei - Visit the well-preserved Banteay Srei. The intricate reliefs on this smaller sandstone structure are considered the finest and most skillfully crafted in Cambodia.
Pre Rup - The final stop is at Pre Rup, a Hindu temple built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961 or early 962. It is a temple mountain constructed with a combination of brick, laterite, and sandstone. Return to town in the late afternoon after a memorable day of exploration.
