Preah Enkosei Temple - At 08:00 am or 2:00 pm, depending on your booking.
Begin the day with a visit to a temple in Siem Reap town. Preah Enkosei is the only period temple situated within modern Siem Reap. Constructed in the mid-10th century by a prominent Brahmin named Divakarabhata, who married the daughter of Rajendravarman II (r. 944-968), the temple features two sanctuaries side-by-side, with the central sanctuary aligned with the east gopura. Consistent with 10th-century architecture, the temple is primarily built of brick, with some sandstone elements like pediments and door frames. - Angkor Wat - Journey outside the town to the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat. As the largest religious monument globally, Angkor Wat was erected during King Suryavarman II’s reign in the early 12th century. It was designed to symbolize Mount Meru, the divine abode in Hindu/Buddhist beliefs. The temple’s interior walls are adorned with stunning stone carvings and bas-reliefs. Take the opportunity to explore both the interior and exterior of the temple and its surroundings, while learning about the stories depicted on the intricate stone walls. The guide will explain the temple’s significance before allowing time for personal exploration.
