Angkor Wat, a symbol of Cambodia, is the largest religious monument globally. Built in 1113, it embodies Hinduism and is a must-visit for all travelers. Enjoy the experience and learn about the temple’s intricate carvings and their meanings with guidance from our knowledgeable tour guide.
- Ta Prohm - Known today as Ta Prohm, this temple in Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, was constructed in the Bayon style during the late 12th and early 13th centuries and was originally named Rajavihara. It gained fame as the “Tomb Raider” temple after the Hollywood movie was filmed there.
- Terrace of the Elephants - Part of the walled city of Angkor Thom, this terrace was used by King Jayavarman VII as a platform to view his victorious army. It was connected to the palace of Phimeanakas, of which only a few ruins remain.
- Terrace of the Leper King - Built in the Bayon style under Jayavarman VII, its modern name comes from a 15th-century sculpture found at the site. The statue represents the Hindu god Yama, the god of death. It was named the “Leper King” due to discoloration and moss resembling leprosy, and a Cambodian legend of King Yasovarman I who had leprosy. Locally, he is known as Dharmaraja, as inscribed on the original statue.
- Baphuon Temple - Located in the ancient city of Angkor Thom, this mid-11th-century temple is a three-tiered temple mountain built as the capital of King Udayadityavarman II and dedicated to the supreme god Shiva. It is the original Baphuon style, with intricate carvings covering its surface. The temple connects to the southern enclosure of the royal palace, measuring about 120 meters east-west by 100 meters north-south at its base, and stands 34 meters tall without its tower, which would have made it approximately 50 meters tall. Spend valuable time exploring this magnificent mountain temple before moving on to another site.
- Bayon Temple - After securing your ticket at the counter, begin exploring the remarkable Angkor Thom, Bayon group. The Bayon is a richly adorned Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. Constructed in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon is located at the center of Jayavarman’s capital, Angkor Thom.
Finally, visit the magnificent south gate of Angkor Thom. This is a must-see location and an excellent place to learn about the fascinating history of the Angkor archaeological park.
