The South Gate is one of the five gates protecting the ancient city of Angkor Thom and is the best-preserved among them. Constructed by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century, it served as one of the five sacred Buddhist gateways to Angkor Thom. Some original heads from the ‘naga avenue’ are now housed in the Angkor Conservation Museum.
- Angkor Gondola Boat Pier - The Angkor Gondola Boat offers a unique Khmer traditional boat service within the Siem Reap-Angkor archaeological park (an Angkor temple pass is required, not included). It is situated west of the Angkor Thom gate. Guests can embark from this port to explore the walls of Angkor Thom.
- Prasat Chrung - Angkor Gondola Boat Ride Tour
Journey along the waterway where history, nature, and culture converge to visit Prasat Chrung, one of four identical temples marking the corners of Angkor Thom. This serene location is perfect for solitude seekers. From here, enjoy views over Angkor Thom’s expansive moat. The Prasat Chrung temples were dedicated to the Bodhisattva Lokeshvara. There will be a stopover at Prasat Chrung to visit the temple.
Guests will appreciate the historical ambiance and have the opportunity to photograph along the grand wall of Angkor Thom, the Royal Secret Path, and the City Guard Post. The beautiful sunset can also be admired.
