Angkor Highlights
Angkor Thom - At 8:00 am, you will be picked up from your hotel for a day of exploration. The first stop is the South Gate, featuring impressive statues illustrating the churning of the ocean of milk, and the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, constructed in the late 12th century. Next, visit the Bayon temple, renowned for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara. Baphuon, resembling an artificial mountain, has recently reopened after extensive restoration.
Following this, you can explore the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King.
Ta Prohm - Continue to the renowned Ta Prohm temple, known for its appearance in the Tomb Raider movie, built between the late 12th and early 13th centuries.
Angkor Wat - Enjoy a Khmer feast for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, proceed to the magnificent Angkor Wat Temple, the most esteemed temple in Angkor Park and the largest religious monument globally. Inside, the walls are adorned with stunning stone carvings and bas-reliefs. Your guide will share the stories behind these intricate details and allow ample time to explore both the inner and outer areas of the temple. At the end of the tour, return to your hotel.
Tonle Sap & Temples
Banteay Samre - Begin your day at 8:30 am with a hotel pick-up. The morning is dedicated to exploring two notable temples, Banteay Samre and Banteay Srei. Banteay Samre, a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style, was built under Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century.
Banteay Srei - Next, visit Banteay Srei, one of Angkor’s most exquisite temples. Constructed primarily of red sandstone, this temple is known for its pink hue and intricate carvings. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant when it’s time for a break.
Chong Kneas Floating Village - In the afternoon, head to Tonle Sap Lake to explore the floating village, where you can observe activities such as crocodile farming, fishing, traditional medicine shops, boat shops, spirit houses, and floating schools.
Artisans Angkor - The final visit is to Artisans D’ Angkor, a local artisan boutique supporting Cambodian arts and crafts. Discover the creation of wood and stone carvings, lacquering, gilding, and silk paintings.
Phare, The Cambodian Circus - For a special evening in Siem Reap, attend a performance of the Cambodian Traditional Circus. More than just a circus, Phare performers use theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to narrate uniquely Cambodian stories, both historical and contemporary. The young artists will captivate you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm, and talent.
Museum & Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
War Museum Cambodia - Today, visit the War Museum to see war machines like the T-54 tank, the MiG-19 jet fighter, the Mi-8 helicopter, and the 85-mm D-44 field artillery gun.
Angkor National Museum - Next, explore the Angkor National Museum, dedicated to the collection, preservation, and presentation of Angkorian artifacts. The collections mainly date from the Khmer Empire’s Angkor period, circa 9th to 14th centuries, with most artifacts found in and around the nearby Angkor archaeological sites.
Siem Reap International Airport - After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to the bus station or airport for your journey to Phnom Penh City. The bus ride takes approximately 6 hours, while a flight takes 1 hour.
Phnom Penh International Airport - Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, a guide will assist with your transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Phnom Penh City Highlights
Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - Embark on a discovery tour of Phnom Penh. At 8:00 am, meet your driver and guide. Gain insight into Cambodia’s recent history at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former school turned detention center during the Khmer Rouge.
Choeung Ek Genocidal Center - Equally poignant are the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. These visits are challenging but crucial for understanding the country’s history.
Russian Market - The remainder of the day is lighter, with a visit to the Russian Market, Cambodia’s largest, offering everything from carvings to jewelry, clothing, and souvenirs. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant featuring Khmer delicacies.
Wat Phnom - In the afternoon, visit Wat Phnom, a picturesque hilltop temple with beautifully maintained gardens.
Royal Palace - Continue to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, named for the 5,000 silver tiles covering the pagoda’s floor, and known for its collection of gold, silver, crystal, and bronze Buddha statues.
Mekong River - Conclude the day with a sunset cruise on the Mekong River before returning to your hotel.
