Located on the southern bank of the Teuk Chhou River, Kampot is one of Cambodia’s most delightful destinations. Once a thriving trading port, it was predominantly inhabited by Chinese merchants, whose descendants still reside there. The town features colonial shop houses with architecture typical of the early 1900s. Explore the vibrant market, where numerous bargains await. Discover the French colonial and post-colonial influences in Kampot, along with the Chinese lifestyle, architecture, and institutions.
10:30 am – 11:30 am - Proceed to the Salt Fields. Kampot, a tranquil town in southern Cambodia, boasts stunning salt fields. The salt produced here is distributed throughout the country.
- La Plantation - 11:30 am – 1:30 pm - Visit the Plantation Kampot pepper farm. Continue to the coastal village of Kep, a serene fishing village perfect for relaxation.
- Kep - 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm - Enjoy lunch at a beachside restaurant renowned for its signature dish of swimmer crab with Kampot pepper. Tour prices include a seafood lunch at our preferred local restaurant.
- Phnom Kampong Trach Cave - 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm - After lunch, enjoy some free time to relax and explore the crab market. Then, proceed to the small town of Kompong Trach. Once forgotten due to the civil war, the new border crossing with Vietnam has sparked a revival. Visit the intriguing cave temple of Wat Kirisan, nestled at the base of Phnom Sor. Travel through a small cave to a hidden chamber open to the sky, with sheer walls adorned with foliage. Discover several hidden shrines and the Cave of a Thousand Rice Fields, where locals say the limestone resembles terraces.
4:00 pm – 7:00 pm - Later this afternoon, begin the return journey to Phnom Penh, arriving in town around 7:00 pm or 7:30 pm.
