During this tour, visitors will explore Bonaire’s Donkey Sanctuary, a haven established to care for donkeys in need of extra attention, nourishment, and hydration. Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the donkeys as they often “greet” visitors and try to nuzzle through the car windows! Additionally, carrots are available for purchase at the sanctuary to feed some fortunate donkeys during the visit.
At the sanctuary, there are several other attractions to enjoy. The Special Care Unit is a dedicated area where visitors can learn about the efforts made to rehabilitate donkeys in distress. The garden is also open for exploration, showcasing local flora, tortoises, and iguanas.
Ascending the watchtower offers a stunning view of the entire sanctuary and provides a perfect photo opportunity. The visit concludes with a refreshing beverage on the terrace, where guests can admire the beautiful pink flamingos by the salt lake.
