- Salt Pier - The Salt Pier in Bonaire is a must-visit destination, renowned globally for its breathtaking industrial scenery and nearby solar salt ponds, where the crystallization ponds exhibit striking pink hues. The pier provides easy ocean access, making snorkeling straightforward and convenient. Beneath the waves, visitors can admire vibrant marine life and often encounter graceful sea turtles. This unique blend of scenic beauty, industrial history, and vibrant nature makes it a top attraction for Bonaire visitors.
- Slave Huts at Orange Pan - The red slave huts on Bonaire, constructed from stone, date back to the 18th century, shortly after the 1710s. These small, historical structures are located around Rincon and near the salt pans. They were not used to house slaves but served as accommodations for indentured workers and salt industry laborers. Today, these iconic red huts stand as a poignant reminder of Bonaire’s history and industrial past, offering visitors insight into the island’s cultural heritage.
- Willemstoren Lighthouse (61) - The Willemstoren Lighthouse is situated at Bonaire’s southernmost point. Built in 1837, it marks the location where the ocean begins to demonstrate its power, crashing against the rugged east coast. For scuba divers, this area offers an adventurous experience, accessible only between August and November, when the wind subsides and the ocean becomes calmer during Bonaire’s hottest months. It’s a breathtaking location that combines natural beauty, history, and the raw energy of the sea, making it a must-visit spot.
- Jibe City - Jibe City is a must-visit for windsurfing enthusiasts—this is where world champion windsurfers like Tony, Taty, and Kiri, among others, began their careers. The bay is shallow and knee-deep, making it ideal for cooling off in the ocean just by walking in, or for snorkeling and swimming. After enjoying the water, visitors can relax with lunch or a drink while soaking in the lively, laid-back atmosphere. Jibe City truly highlights what Bonaire has to offer—excellent wind, stunning waters, and a vibrant, welcoming vibe.
- Lac Cai - On the way to Lac Cai, visitors have the opportunity to see flamingos and explore the mangrove forest, a protected wildlife area. Depending on the time and interests, one can visit Lac Bay or watch the flamingos feeding from the freshwater upwelling. Along the route, there is often a good chance to spot wild donkeys roaming near the edge of the mangroves. It’s a scenic journey filled with unique wildlife and stunning natural beauty, offering a true taste of Bonaire’s vibrant ecosystem.
