Dark, but Interesting and Authentic. - It is dark, but it was extremely interesting. Our guide Summer did a great job of helping us to understand how the less fortunate in Hong Kong live. You could feel her passion. I highly recommend this if you are looking for something different and authentic.

Highly recommended tour in addition to the usual city tours - Very interesting tour of a different side of Hong Kong. I booked online through Viator. The process was straightforward. The tour operator was Hong Kong Free Tours. I had to change the date after booking and it was easy to do through Viator and was directly confirmed by the tour operator. I believe you can also book directly through the operator. This tour was very well conducted. The company running the tour has thought through the conduct of the tour with sensitivity to the people living their lives. This is by no means voyeuristic which was my initial worry. It is a good run down of the buildings, architecture and social history of a different side of HK. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone, in addition to the looking at the usual successful landmarks that Hong Kong has to try to understand HK and its people better. Well done to Isaac who was our guide. Very likeable young man and explains with knowledge, personal experience and sensitively.

Post Thought - We had Issac as our tour guide for the day. He was very punctual. He also very knowledgeable. The tour was very educational and allows visitors from all around the world to understand a different size of Hong Kong. From this tour, we learnt how the lower socioeconomic people live in Hong Kong by maximising space rather than all the glamorous story you encounter on social media.

Guided tours are the perfect way to get an in-depth understanding of real life in Hong Kong! - Hong Kong also has a common area like downtown. It is understandable because of the structure of the city that many inhabitants live in a small area. However, in Hong Kong, the room area is very small, and on top of that, the rent is extremely high! (usually 50% of income is rent.) People waited in line to enter the public housing complex, and inside the one-room shared by several people, there was a cluster of kitchens, washing machines and toilets. During the tour, Michael, our guide, answered some of the questions the participants had, and told us about his favorite Hong Kong, sometimes with jokes. 2047 is the deadline for the end of "one country, two systems" through arrangements between the UK and China. I want to keep wearing walking shoes and see real life in Hong Kong. It was a worthwhile tour, to see the light and shadow of Hong Kong from a Hong Kong perspective!

Ok - Enjoyed hearing about the government, poor housing, locals, charities that help etc but felt he went on too much about the seedier side of life.
