Traveling along the coast, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the charm of ancient fishing villages (Muo, Prcanj, Stoliv), stunning forests, and nature that define Kotor, along with remarkable architectural structures like churches and old stone houses.
- Perast - The single-street Old Town of Perast, situated in Boka Bay at the foot of St. Ivan hill, is considered the oldest settlement in Boka Bay, with evidence of Neolithic culture dating back to 3500 BC. Today, Perast is recognized as a significant UNESCO World Heritage site.
Once a city of captains and seafarers, Perast is now a renowned luxury tourist destination with a history spanning eight centuries. Its location offers a panoramic view of the entire Bay, including its two islands, ‘Our Lady of the Rock’ and ‘St George’, making it a top tourist attraction in Montenegro. Easily accessible by water from the Bay of Kotor and Tivat, it is a must-visit tourist spot.
- Our Lady of the Rocks - The Island of Our Lady of the Rocks is an artificial island, reportedly created by seamen from Perast and Kotor who brought large stones on their sailing ships. The island features a church, and legend has it that fishermen from Perast, after a shipwreck near the island, discovered an icon of the Holy Mother of God with Christ on a sea rock. As tradition dictates, they vowed to build a church on the island, which was completed in 1630. To maintain the island, seamen continued to bring stones, a tradition that persists today.
- Rose - On the Lustica Peninsula, we will explore a hidden Submarine Base built during the world wars for the Yugoslavian army. Access to the Submarine Base is by speedboat, not on foot.
- Mamula Fortress - Mamula Island
Mamula Island is located at the entrance of the bay between Lustica and Herceg Novi. The fort on the island, covering almost 90% of the area, was constructed in 1853 by Austro-Hungarian admiral Lazar Mamula to prevent enemies from entering the Bay of Kotor. After 1942, the fort was converted into a concentration camp during Mussolini’s era.
- Blue Grotto - The Blue Cave is a natural wonder on the Montenegrin coast, renowned for its stunning blue light that illuminates the cave’s interior. This light, caused by sunlight reflecting off the cave’s white-pebble bottom, creates a captivating effect that has enchanted visitors for centuries. Accessible only by boat, it is an ideal destination for hot summer days. Inside, visitors can swim in the crystal-clear waters and admire the cave’s unique beauty. The Blue Cave is a must-see for anyone visiting the region. The stop will last half an hour, allowing time for swimming, photography, and enjoying great music.
