Saint George - In front of Perast lie two stunning islands. One of them, Saint George, features a Benedictine monastery from the 12th century and is a natural island. The island is largely occupied by a cemetery where many residents of Perast and other towns in Boka are laid to rest. The Benedictine monks planted numerous cypress trees, symbols of death and disappearance, which thrived despite the belief that nothing could grow on the island due to saltwater and a curse.
The island inspired the renowned Swiss painter Böcklin for his famous painting “The Isle of the Dead.”
- Mamula Fortress - Mamula is a small island with a fortress located at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. The fortress, built in the 19th century, was used as a prison during World War I and II. It is currently closed to the public due to renovations for an elite hotel.
- Former Submarine Tunnel - Carved into the steep banks of Luštica are three tunnels. Although constructed during Yugoslavia, Luštica served as a significant military base during the First and Second World Wars and the Cold War. The tunnels were used to conceal and repair submarines and ships. The tunnel stretches up to fifty meters in length, seven meters in width, and has an average depth of about eight meters, increasing to thirty meters at the exit. Additionally, there is a complex of underground tunnels housing technical equipment for submarine servicing and repair.
- Our Lady of the Rocks - Our Lady of the Rocks is a beautiful man-made island created by the residents of Perast. Legend has it that two fishermen from Perast discovered an icon of Our Lady on a rock protruding from the sea. The people vowed to build an island and church dedicated to Our Lady of the Rocks. Today, visitors can explore the magnificent church and museum on this small island.
- Blue Grotto - Visitors can enjoy a wonderful experience swimming inside the Blue Cave, with its stunning turquoise blue waters.
- Perast - Baroque Perast is a must-visit destination in the Bay of Kotor. This UNESCO-protected town, with its magnificent Venetian Gothic waterfront buildings, has a rich history. During the time when the interior of the Boka Bay was under the Venetian Republic and the exterior under the Ottoman Empire, Perast held significant strategic importance. During this period, Perast was very prosperous, and almost all of its impressive buildings were constructed before the 19th century in the Baroque style, giving it special significance. After the fall of the Venetian Republic and the Napoleonic Wars, Perast came under Austro-Hungarian administration. Perast lost its defensive role, privileges, and economic power, beginning a 200-year decline. Despite having only 350 inhabitants, Perast boasted 18 churches and 19 palaces. The symbol of the city is the Church of Saint Nicholas, with its impressive 55-meter-high bell tower, standing proudly above the buildings. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds, it was never completed.
