- Catalhoyuk Neolithic City - Çatalhöyük, also known as Çatal Höyük and Çatal Hüyük, derives its name from the Turkish words çatal meaning “fork” and höyük meaning “tumulus.” It is a tell, a mound formed by long-term human settlement, representing a significant Neolithic and Chalcolithic proto-city in southern Anatolia. This settlement existed from approximately 7500 BC to 6400 BC, reaching its peak around 7000 BC.[2] In July 2012, it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.[3]
The Çatalhöyük Promotion and Welcome Center, constructed by the Konya Municipality, is an impressive example of virtual museum technology that brings ancient times to life. The center was designed to welcome tourists, provide information, and enhance their cultural experiences.
