• Leirvik - After being picked up in Tórshavn, the journey heads north into the approximately 11-kilometer-long Eysturoy Tunnel, notable for being the only undersea tunnel worldwide with a roundabout, adorned by stunning local artwork. After 45 minutes, there is a brief stop in Leirvík to discuss Vikings, avalanches, and deserted villages before continuing through a second undersea tunnel to the Northern Isles.
• Klaksvik - In Klaksvík, when storms hit, the mountains echo, and during fishing times, trawlers gracefully move in and out of the harbor. Upon arrival in Klaksvík, the significance of the fishing industry is immediately highlighted by the impressive sight of a giant metal fishing hook statue. The town has expanded around the bay and increasingly up the steep mountainsides. Besides fishing, Klaksvík is renowned for hosting numerous events and festivals throughout the year, and it is also home to an award-winning brewery.
• Kunoy - To reach the village of Kunoy on its namesake island, one must first cross a winding causeway and then navigate a three-kilometer-long, narrow, single-lane tunnel. On the other side, weather permitting, there is a view of the island of Kallsoy, with its towering mountains and lush green valleys alongside Kunoy. In Kunoy village, a stream flows between the vibrant houses, while birds sing from the willow trees. Behind the village, the mountains rise majestically, and to attend church on Sundays, locals used to traverse these steep hills.
• Vidareidi - Viðareiði, the northernmost village in the Faroe Islands on the island of Viðoy, became accessible through a tunnel after the old, landslide-prone road was deemed unsafe. Situated in a wide, gentle valley, this agricultural village offers stunning views of the neighboring islands and towering mountains, showcasing the Faroese blend of nature and culture. To the north of the village stands Villingadalsfjall, reaching 844 meters, and beyond it, Enniberg, featuring 754-meter-high sheer cliffs, the tallest vertical sea cliffs in the world. Viðareiði is also the birthplace of Christian Matras, a notable figure in Faroese literature. Additionally, the village has a rich maritime history, highlighted by the church silver gifted by the British government in gratitude for a heroic rescue by the villagers when the British brig “Marwood” was wrecked east of Viðareiði during a winter storm in 1847.
