Five centuries ago, a samurai established his castle in Akabane, heralding the beginning of Tokyo. In 1956, local merchants initiated the “Akabane Baka Matsuri” to celebrate his legacy and bring sheer joy to the community. Today, it has transformed into a grand display of color, music, and tradition.
The best part? You’re invited to join the excitement! Slip into a traditional Happi coat (rentals available for ages 13+), dance the “Baka Odori” with the locals, and feel the electrifying energy of the crowd. It’s a unique, exhilarating chance to connect with the community like a true Tokyoite.
Enjoy a chilled beer and say “Kanpai!”, lose yourself in the nostalgic “Senbero” district—Akabane’s famous drinking alleys.
