It boasts a comprehensive collection of early, modern, and contemporary Jamaican art, along with smaller Caribbean and international pieces. A significant portion of its collection is permanently on display. The gallery hosts an active exhibition program, featuring retrospectives of major Jamaican artists, thematic exhibitions, guest-curated shows, touring exhibitions from outside the island, and its flagship event, the Kingston Biennial. Hidden gem, great stories and staff. - An unexpected treat. We had not originally put this on our schedule but we’re so glad we did. It filled in a big gap in our knowledge of reggae history. Amilcar And Uncle Chris were great hosts and full of fascinating items and stories. There are some amazing exhibits and it really tells the story of the influence Bunny Lee had on reggae in Jamaica and the UK. As supporters (and a volunteer of the UK’s Coventry Music Museum it was great to share information about ska. Definitely worth music lovers including in your plans.
