Kigali Genocide Memorial - Morning Pick-up: Guests will be collected from any location in Kigali for a one-way drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial site before proceeding to Akagera National Park.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial serves as a place of remembrance and education, honoring the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and highlighting the nation’s journey towards recovery.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial site, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is located at the burial site of 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The museum offers comprehensive documentation of the genocide, providing visitors with an understanding of Rwanda’s recent tragic history and the remarkable progress the country has made in reconciliation and development. The museum also features exhibits on other genocides worldwide, offering crucial lessons on the consequences of unchecked hatred. Admission to the museum is free, and visitors can explore independently. An audio guide is available for a $15 fee. Plan to spend at least 2 hours at the site.

Akagera National Park - Following the visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, guests will depart Kigali for Akagera National Park, a journey of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours with knowledgeable local experts and a friendly driver guide. Transportation is provided in a comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi to keep guests connected with loved ones and the world.

A 45-minute stopover at Imigongo Art Center is included for lunch, coffee, restroom breaks, snacks, and to explore arts, crafts, and relax.

Upon arrival at the park, guests will complete entry formalities at the park reception.

Afterward, guests will proceed to their accommodation for check-in, where they can freshen up, relax, or swim before embarking on a sunset boat launch at 4:30 pm on Lake Ihema, the largest lake in Akagera National Park and the second largest in Rwanda after Lake Kivu. Following the sunset boat safari, guests will return to the lodge.

Full Day Akagera Game Drive & Transfer Back to Kigali

Akagera National Park - At 7:00 am, after breakfast, guests will be picked up from Mantis Akagera Game Lodge to begin a full-day safari game drive, lasting approximately 6 hours, with experienced local experts and a friendly driver guide. Lunch will be enjoyed at Mihindi Picnic Area. The Big 5 are a major attraction in Akagera, where travelers can see Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Rhinos. The park’s forest-fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains, and rolling highlands make Akagera one of the most picturesque reserves in Africa. It boasts exceptional biodiversity and is the largest protected wetland in central Africa.

3 - 4 pm: Conclusion of the safari

The safari concludes in the north, followed by a return journey to Kigali.
