Ngong Hills - In a developing region west of Nairobi, explore the Women’s Empowerment Centre, another impactful initiative supported by One Horizon. Here, local women participate in an 18-month program that equips them with trade and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to establish their own businesses. The outcomes have been remarkable, as these mothers are able to rise out of poverty, maintain their families, and evolve into independent business owners and community leaders. The Hippos of Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha - Today, travel west of Nairobi to Lake Naivasha, Kenya’s most stunning freshwater lake, surrounded by serene grassy banks and bordered by dense papyrus. En route, pause at a roadside viewpoint for breathtaking vistas over Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, and arrive at a charming lakeside lodge set in expansive grounds dotted with acacia trees, where you might spot an antelope or vervet monkey. Take a small boat to observe the pods of hippos and the abundant birdlife that Naivasha is renowned for, then return to the lodge to enjoy a delightful, leisurely lunch and a refreshing swim in the pool before heading back to Nairobi in the late afternoon.
