• Candy Cane Mountain - This stunning road in Azerbaijan stretches approximately 40 kilometers from the Guba-Baku highway westward to the mountain village of Altiaghaj. Midway, travelers pass through a striking valley bordered by rolling shale mountains with vibrant red, orange, pink, and chalk-colored swirls. British travel writer Mark Elliott, author of the popular ‘Azerbaijan’ guidebook, named them the Candy Cane Mountains, a name that has captivated travelers ever since.
• Besh Barmag Mountain - Located just over an hour’s drive northwest of Baku along the Guba highway, this 382-meter high mountain is known as Mt. Beshbarmag, meaning ‘Five-finger Mountain’ in Azerbaijani. Legend tells of a prophet named Khidr who sought the ‘potion of life’ here and achieved immortality by drinking from a spring at the summit. Today, the mountain is enveloped in mystery, attracting locals who come to pray for strength and good fortune.
• Qechresh - Qechresh is one of the largest villages in the Guba region, surrounded by forests. It is renowned for its natural springs and diverse plant life.
• Qrız - The Qriz Bridge, suspended between steep cliffs and surrounded by dramatic landscapes, is one of the region’s most picturesque spots. It provides a perfect backdrop for unforgettable photos, making it a favorite stop for travelers and photographers.
• Gudyalchayli - Beyond the Gechresh forest lies the Gudyalchay canyons, featuring steep ascents and descents through the gorge’s towering walls. The road, flanked by two mountains and steep cliffs, along with the beautiful forest, creates a charming view of this village.
• Eagle Top - En route to Khinaliq village, a stop will be made at the breathtaking Eagle Top viewpoint. This natural landmark, high in the mountains, offers panoramic views of deep valleys and winding roads. Named for its eagle-shaped rock formation and the frequent sight of wild eagles, it is an ideal spot for capturing stunning mountain landscapes and enjoying the fresh Caucasus air.
• Guba-Khachmaz Region - The journey begins at approximately 8 AM. The total duration spent in the car traveling to Guba Khinaliq and back to Baku is approximately 8 hours.
• Khinalug - Khinalig is an ancient Caucasian village from the Caucasian Albanian period. Situated north of Guba, amidst the Greater Caucasus mountains that separate Russia and the South Caucasus, it stands at an altitude of 2100-2200 meters above sea level over the Kudialchay River. Known for its unique language, customs, and traditions, Khinalig is home to about two thousand indigenous people who have preserved their language for over 4000 years.
